Finding Unassigned Areas

The first row in the (unsorted) Districts Dataview displays the control field and summary field information for the unassigned portion of the plan. Sometimes you may have inadvertently left out a small polygon or group of polygons when creating a district, or you have left a small sliver between districts. Maptitude for Redistricting makes it easy to find and display these unassigned areas, one at a time.

To Find Unassigned Areas

  1. Choose Redistricting-Plan Integrity-Find Unassigned Areas to display the Unassigned Areas toolbox. The toolbox displays a list of unassigned areas.

  2. Highlight one or more areas in the scroll list.

  3. Click  to zoom to the chosen areas. Maptitude for Redistricting zooms the map to display the unassigned area or areas.

  4. Click the District Pointer tool and click just outside the unassigned area to change the target district to the appropriate district.

  5. Use one of the selection tools to select the unassigned area.

  6. Click to assign the unassigned area to the target district.

  7. Click , once you have assigned these unassigned areas to a district, to eliminate them from the list.

  8. Click the Close box in the upper-right corner of the Unassigned Areas toolbox when you are done finding unassigned areas.

Maptitude for Redistricting closes the Unassigned Areas toolbox.
